Authorities with search dogs went through downtown Columbus Thursday looking for a missing Tupelo man who may have dementia.
Rommie Lee Essex, 80, has been missing since Feb. 19, according to Tupelo Police Department's Facebook page. Though officially last seen in the area of 3158 N. Gloster St. west of Highway 45 in Tupelo, police received a report he may have been seen in Columbus shortly after his disappearance.
Authorities worked with Search Dog South, a Memphis-based nonprofit which trains search and rescue dogs to find missing people and assist in other investigations, to search for Essex in Columbus.
Essex is 5-foot-5 and about 130 pounds with gray hair and brown eyes, according to TPD's Facebook page. His family has said he may have dementia and will probably be walking.
Anyone with information on Essex's whereabouts is asked to call TPD or Lee County E-911.
