December brings with it a flurry of festivities. One of those returning to Starkville is the annual "12 Days of Christmas" through Dec. 15 at Three Generations Tea Room at 217 N. Jackson St. All donations made will benefit the Starkville Pregnancy Care Center. That ministry is dedicated to helping women who are facing an often unexpected pregnancy.
"It's a very important fundraiser that helps support the center, which offers services to our communities including free pregnancy testing, limited obstetrical ultrasound and information about all pregnancy options so women can make informed decisions," said Ruth Baareman, the center's executive director.
Three Generations Tea Room proprietor Paige Lawes organizes the annual "12 Days of Christmas" around special luncheons Dec. 1-15 (except Sundays), each complemented by seasonal music.
"Every day is different entertainment. We have classical to bluegrass," Lawes said. "There's something for everybody."
Baareman remarked, "It's a relaxing time at a very busy time of the year, a way to get a group of friends together and connect over the holidays. We are just so blessed that Paige Lawes does this. It's hard to put into words the time she spends, her heart for our ministry. We really, really appreciate her."
"This is just an opportunity that I could give back," said Lawes. "It's something I feel very strongly about, and something I can do in my own little small way."
Brunch buffet begins each day at 11 a.m.; entertainment starts at 12:15 p.m. Cost is $12 per person, plus tax. Reservations are required by calling Three Generations, 662-324-1507.
Lawes' two-week long "12 Days" actually encompasses 13 midday events, a baker's dozen. They began Dec. 1 with music by Larry Priest and Maria Christova. Other performers will include:
